Ski Areas
At present, you'll find about 50 ski lifts in Zakopane and this number is constantly growing due to the increasing popularity of the region.
At the top of the list is Kasprowy Wierch. You can reach the summit by cable car from Kuznice. However, this peak is very popular so the best advice is to buy your cable car ticket in advance. It is definitely worth it. The slopes at the top are fairly challenging as is the long ride down, so novice skiers and snowboarders should be aware of this.
Nosal is another top choice here. It’s ideal for families and novices with plenty of nursery slopes. With a chair-lift and over 10 T lifts, you won’t be bored. On a clear day the views are fantastic.
Gubalowka and Simonskowa provide the closest slopes to the town. In addition to a fantastic view of Zakopane and its surrounding environs, you’ll find slopes for all levels of skiers.
Harenda is a pleasant south facing slope with two lifts and a baby lift. Harenda has a great restaurant and is easy to get to by car.
Giewont, near the ski jumps is a fun area to visit and there are a few very nice nursery slopes overlooked by restaurants.
We also recommend doing some exploring, get off the beaten track and visit some of the local villages. Some good slopes can be found in Bialka Tatrzanski which is a lovely complex with multiple lifts and very good facilities. Also a favourite with many of our guests is Bukowina Tatrzanska, it takes about twenty minutes to get to but has a wide variety of slopes to suit all abilities. Male Ciche, also around a twenty minute drive is a good new resort with some enjoyable slopes and a snowboard park.
There are many more ski areas, not mentioned here, just waiting to be explored. These are just a few of the ones we and our guests have experienced and enjoyed.
There are plenty of places to rent equipment, book ski school or private lessons, hire guides, buy ski passes and unlike many other European resorts, Poland can still boast affordability. With all the money you save you can enjoy everything else Zakopane has to offer!
